The Story
The Hair Extension Necklace
A tool with history, heart, and a whole lot of purpose.
Before The Hair Extension Necklace ever existed, there was me — Jessica.
I’m a former pageant girl, a wife, a widow, now remarried, a mom, and a former professional cowgirl who spent a decade pushing through the kind of physical pain only horse women truly understand. And through all of it, one thing always grounded me: hair extensions and the transformative power they give to a person’s mind, body, and soul.
The confidence they created was addicting to be part of — watching someone walk in one way and walk out feeling entirely different. That feeling, that transformation, was the one thing I kept coming back to.
I’ve been a hairstylist specializing in hair extensions since 2008, but really, the industry has been woven into my life far longer than that. I grew up in the world of hair manufacturing. My family built their lives in this industry, and I had a front-row seat to some of the greatest innovators and pioneers long before extensions were “mainstream.” I didn’t realize it then, but all of those experiences were quietly shaping me, preparing me for something I’d one day bring into the world.
In 2023, I traveled with my aunt — Helene, who I like to call the fairy godmother of hair — to visit an associate in Palm Beach. She is a true innovator in her own right. And standing in that room with two women who helped build this industry from the ground up, I felt something shift. It was like they were handing me the torch, trusting me to carry forward the work they had started so beautifully.
While watching her demonstrate her method (which the industry later copied as the “butterfly method,” although nothing compares to her original version), something caught my eye — a tool I had never seen before.
A crochet hook… on a necklace.
Wrapped with a little piece of tape to keep the beads from sliding off.
Simple.
Clever.
Genius.
I asked if I could explore it further and maybe help bring it to the world. She smiled and said yes — and that blessing stayed with me.
Fast forward through years of refining and improving her method for distribution. We tested. We changed. We reinvented. But one thing kept standing out:
most stylists were no longer using crochet hooks — including me.
The loop tool had become the industry favorite.
And the tape-wrapped crochet hook necklace?
Brilliant for the one artist who invented it… not something we could easily teach or market at scale.
Then one quiet day, standing in the shop with a loop tool in my hand, it hit me:
“I miss that necklace… I wonder if we could do that same concept, but with a loop tool?”
And just like that — The Hair Extension Necklace was born.
Not in a boardroom.
Not in a lab.
But in a moment of remembering, honoring, and evolving the tools of the people who came before me.
This necklace isn’t just a tool.
It’s a bridge between generations of innovation.
It’s a nod to the pioneers who shaped our industry.
And it’s a love letter to the artists who pour their bodies, their creativity, and their hearts into every client they touch.
It’s practical.
It’s beautiful.
It frees your hands, eases your workflow, and supports the way you show up behind the chair.
This didn’t just come from me —
it evolved for you, to elevate your experience and make your journey just a little lighter, a little easier, and a lot more joyful.
